How to get there

A taxi from the airport to the hotel will be about 50 euro. Yellow airport taxis take up to seven passengers, please ask at respective desks. Several persons sharing a taxi is a good way to arrive at the congress hotel, the trip takes 30-40 minutes.
There is a busline from the airport to the Leppävaara rail station, U-line 540, which does not run very frequently but ask at the information desk in arrivals hall 2. A three zone region ticket is about 6 euro. From Leppävaara the bus 28T or 28KT, platform 15, has its last stop at Siikaranta congress hotel. The same ticket will be valid also for this bus.
The airport buses, Finnair or line 615, runs frequently to the center of Helsinki, the railway station. A three-zone region ticket will be valid for the travel from Helsinki to Siikaranta (and probably also for the bus 615). From the railway station take a commuter train to Leppävaara (15 -20 min, frequent trains), and then at Leppävaara change to the Siikaranta bus (28T or 28KT) departing from platform 15. The Siikaranta bus schedule from Leppävaara on Friday 29.6.: at 11.41, 15.03, 16.12 and 21.11.

The deadline for registration was 30 March, but we can still accept some participants, please contact asap at syrphidae07 'at' luomus 'dot' fi. A letter of invitation can be requested at the same address.

Accomodation and meals

The cost for full board (accomodation and all meals) and registration for shared double room will be approx. 300 euro/participant, and for single room approx 350 euro/participant. A buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, and one afternoon coffee break, will be served each full congress day. On the arrival day, Friday 29 June, a buffet dinner will be served during 19-20, and a breakfast the last day. Possible dietary requirements should be clearly stated on the registration form. The final prices will be given as soon as possible.

Payments

No advance payments, all payments are made upon arrival, the accommodation can be paid with credit card or cash when checking in to the hotel, and the registration fee (25 euro) should be paid in cash at the registration desk.
The hotel has 53 double rooms (may be used either as doubles or singles, a few as triples with extra bed) with shower and TV, and guests may use saunas and inside swimming pool every morning free of charge. The hotel has a fitness room that may be used free of charge, and two tennis courts and a volleyboll court. Outdoor swimming (with sauna) in nearby lake is also possible.
Participants are responsible for their own costs and should try to finance their own trip, accomodation and registration fee. If the organizing committee succeeds in raising sufficient funds for the symposium, part of it can be used for travel and subsidence compensation. Please indicate on the registration form the economic reasons for requiring financial compensation. The organizing committee will make the decisions and inform applicants by email.

Email and internet

During the symposium a computer classroom with 16 computers will be available.

Weather

Please note that evenings and nights can be quite cool also during the summer in Finland (and sometimes the days also!). Bring a warm sweater and a (windproof) jacket. Mosquito repellent is very good to have!

Excursion

Please indicate on the registration form if you wish to participate in the excursion Tuesday 3.7.2007. The excursion bus (buses) leaves at 09.00 from the congress hotel, and arrives ca 19.00 in Helsinki city centre. Participants can bring all their luggage with them. During the excursion we plan to visit a bog protection area in southern Finland, and see some of the archipelago, and there will be a possibility for collecting insects. The price will be around 30 euro (including lunch), payment at registration desk. Please indicate in the registration form if you wish to participate!

Abstracts

Abstracts of oral presentations and posters are to be submitted before June 5. All abstracts should contain the following information:
Title, authors, including the address of the first author; a brief summary of the contents of the presentation or poster. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words.
